Due to the acquisition of large tracts of contiguous lands by the Township, consideration has to be given to the surface waters that exist within them and the wildlife that are dependent upon them for their survival. * The Howell Lake Restoration & Wildlife Management Committee was established to assist with the maintenance and management of Township owned lakes, ponds, and the wildlife habitat existing within the Township. * Howell updated the ERI in 2021 to incorporate and acknowledging wildlife species that are in need of protection and the areas where these species rside in the town * updating and further identifying imperiled species Program Summary: On May 18, 2015, Howell Township Council adopted Resolution R-15-140 which states that Howell Township is in support of the New Jersey Wildlife Action Plan and will take steps with regard to municipal land-use decisions to make Howell Township an ecologically sustainable community.
